Grade: 12th

What is your hometown / Where are you learning from?
Westfield, Indiana

When did you begin attending Options?
I enrolled at Options a quarter of the way into my junior year.

Away from school, do you have any hobbies, passions, or ways you enjoy spending your free time?
I spend a lot of my free time reading and spending time with my friends.

What have you enjoyed most about the Options experience?
My favorite thing about options is how helpful all the teachers are. You can ask them for help with pretty much anything and they will get back to you very quickly.

What is your favorite subject in school?
Currently my favorite subject is my Pharmacy Technician course because it gives me the opportunity and experience to succeed in my future career.

Do you have a favorite teacher or staff member in Options Indiana?
I do have a favorite teacher, and that would have to be my advisor, Julie. She pushed me to get done what I had to do my junior year, and much to her liking, I got a rhythm down and she doesn’t have to hound me anymore. She pushed me to be better, and it worked.

Have you improved in any areas since you first started attending Options?
I have improved my studying methods. Being by yourself means that you really have to figure out what works best for you.

Do you have any current plans or aspirations for when you’re older, or after you graduate?
After graduation, I will take a gap year to get experience, and I will move on to college. I plan on majoring in pre-pharm to eventually become a pharmacist. Being in the pharm tech program offered me the opportunity to test out my liking for the field. I can safely say that I am a fan.

I am a Cadet Firefighter and spend a lot of time training with the fire department and serving my community. I am able to make fire runs with the department to experience what the job is really like.  I also like working on small engines and I do landscape work. I am a Life Scout in the Boy Scouts, with my next step being Eagle Scout. I also like bass fishing and spend a lot of time in the summer doing that with my family.

What have you enjoyed most about the Options experience?
I like having the opportunity to log in anytime and do my schoolwork. If something is hard for me to understand I can log off, take a break, and then log back in and work more.  It really helps me regroup instead of sitting in a chair for an hour looking at something that is frustrating me.

I like science.  I want to know why things are the way they are. This quarter I really liked Principles of Human Services because it is real life things.

Do you have a favorite teacher or staff member in Options Indiana?
I like Mike Dellinger. He has encouraged me and kept me going. He also sends encouraging messages that make me want to keep going.

Have you improved in any areas since enrolling at Options?
I believe this period has been the best for me. I struggled bad but realized it and want to better myself. I think being at Options has really helped me because I am not just another student.

Do you have any current plans or aspirations for after you graduate?
My current plan is to continue in the fire service. I will be going to an Emergency Responder Course this summer. I will be able to complete the Fire I/II class when I am 17 and test at 18. I will then go to EMT school. My plan is to continue serving my community, and I am also interested in enlisting in the military.
