Options Schools expands to northwest Indiana with Options New Vistas High School

NOBLESVILLE, Ind. – In an effort to provide more Indiana students with the opportunity to earn their education and high school diploma in a student-first environment, Options Schools has acquired New Vistas High School in Portage, Indiana.

New Vistas High School is a free, public alternative charter high school open to any Indiana resident who has completed the 8th grade. Starting July 1, the school will be named Options New Vistas High School. Options Schools is also excited to partner with Neighbor’s Educational Opportunities to continue the NEO Adult Education program.

“Having been familiar with New Vistas High School since 2011, I have long been aware of the impact and importance that this program has in the Portage community and throughout northwest Indiana.” said Dr. Mike Gustin, Options Schools CEO. “The team at New Vistas High School is a group passionate about student success, and having spent time with them in Portage over the last several months, I am excited to have them as part of the Options Schools team.”

Founded in 2002, Options Schools are free, public charter schools serving grade 6-12 students in all 92 counties in the state of Indiana. With a high-quality, individualized approach to education, Options Schools specializes in providing students with an inclusive environment, unparalleled support, and a student-to-teacher ratio of 15-to-1. With brick-and-mortar campuses throughout Indiana, Options also offers additional specialized programs in virtual & in-person formats. New Vistas High School also became a charter school in 2002.

Similar to Options Schools, students choose New Vistas High School over a larger traditional school for a variety of reasons including:

  • Smaller class size
  • Flexible scheduling options
  • Personalized instruction
  • credit recovery options
  • Leadership and participation options
  • Welcoming, inclusive, diverse, and safe school climate

The acquisition was unanimously approved by both Options Schools and NEO school boards in April.
