When did you begin working in the field of education?
My career in education began in August 2014 as a Middle School Special Education teacher in Cleveland, Ohio, where I taught for two years. In 2016, I moved to Indiana and continued working in Special Education at the high school level in Merrillville until 2019. From there, I transitioned into Career and Technical Education, teaching Middle School Business Education at Hanover Central Middle School in Cedar Lake, Indiana, from 2019 to 2022. Most recently, I’ve been teaching at the same school as the Family and Consumer Science teacher since 2023.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Options team?
I’m excited to join the Options team because it gives me the chance to connect with students in a meaningful way, even outside the traditional classroom. Teaching Family and Consumer Science in a virtual setting opens up so many creative possibilities, and I’m looking forward to helping students build real-life skills they can use every day. I’m also really drawn to the supportive environment Options offers—for both students and staff—and I’m excited to be part of a team that truly puts students first.
What do you enjoy outside of Options?
Outside of Options, I love staying active—whether that’s lifting weights, going for walks with my dog, Zoey, or cheering on my kids at their sporting events. I also enjoy meal prepping, baking, catching a good audiobook, and making time for date nights with my husband. It’s all about balance and doing what keeps me energized and grounded.
