Joseph
Options Noblesville

Grade: 10th

When did you begin attending Options?
At the start of this school year in August 2021

What has your Options experience been like since enrolling?
Extremely different than what I was used to at Fishers High School. Fishers felt closed off – there were a lot more people, but it just felt closed off. Here (at Options Noblesville) everyone knows each other, and everyone is nice to each other. The teachers also are a lot more helpful and supportive with what you need and if you’re ever struggling. It’s been great since coming here.

Do you have any hobbies, passions or ways you enjoy spending your free time?
Mostly skateboard or go to the gym, and I try to be active. I was a video game person most of my life and have got more in the gym the last couple of years. I played baseball growing up also, but this is the first year & a half that I’ve been really focusing on staying active. Friends got me into it, and I have a five-day weekly routine. I still play video games sometimes. but mainly socially with friends.

What have you enjoyed most about the Options experience?
I like that we just have such a variety of different people, teachers, and students. At Fishers, it was all the same & here there is variety of people with different interests and from different backgrounds.

What is your favorite subject in school?
Probably English because there’s more creativity involved than math and science.

Have you improved in any areas since starting at Options?
I’ve improved in math. I would also say I’m more social than I was, it isn’t as overwhelming here & easier to get to know people. There’s also a chance to build stronger connections with people in a smaller setting like here.

Do you have any current plans or aspirations for after you graduate?
I would like to go to a college for language learning because that is something I’m interested in. I’m learning Russian now, and I want to learn Arabic next, I also want to travel & visit several countries. I’ve thought about going to college outside of the United States also. I started language learning a couple years ago, and I know Dutch and German so far. I’m interested in learning about my heritage as well, and the languages involved.
