When did you begin working in the field of education?
I started working in Early Childhood Education in 2006 in Indianapolis. I wanted to do more for students who needed more support and I went back to school for Elementary Education/ Special Education. I began my career as a Special Education Case Manager and Co-teacher of Sophomore and Junior English classes in the Fall of 2021 with Lawrence Central High School.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Options team?
I am very excited to join the Options team! I love that Options personalizes each student’s learning experience and takes into account how each student learns. As a special education case manager in a high school, I had several students who felt that the traditional school setting was not working for them. I was introduced to the Options model while looking for alternatives for these students. Upon meeting Options team members during interviews, I was so excited that we shared the mutual goal of preparing students for the future they want and providing the support and structures to get them there.
What do you enjoy outside of Options?
I enjoy spending time with my husband and two children (Sam, 9 and Amelia, 5). My hobbies are ameteur photography, reading, spending time outside, and learning how to take apart and fix things.I enjoy traveling (to warm and tropical places) and continuing to learn about many topics of interest through workshops.
