July 2008
When did you begin working in the field of education?
In August 1993 as a Social Studies Teacher and Basketball & Track Coach at Cowan High School just outside of Muncie, IN.
What do you enjoy most about being part of the Options team?
There are several things that I enjoy about working at Options Charter Schools. First, I enjoy the board and staff at Options Charter Schools focused on the mission of serving at-risk students and my genuine affection and respect for each person. Second, I really enjoy the blending of a family and professional atmosphere that better serves the needs of adults and students. Third, the ability to identify and support each student as an individual. This better allows the staff to identify challenges the student is facing and develop strategies for success. Fourth, the motto of Options- Belong, Believe, Achieve- resonates with me personally and professionally. The ability to get students and families to reconnect to the school culture that brings a sense of belonging and the ability for the student to redefine themselves in positive ways directly impacts the academic achievement and sense of positive well-being for the student.
What do you enjoy outside of Options?
I have several family and friend relationships that I value. I typically spend time doing a wide variety of activities and hobbies with this groups of people. The list includes: staying at home, traveling, golfing, motorcycle trips, sporting events, and anything that includes food!
